Atlanta Hawks Land the #1 Pick in this Year’s NBA Draft - So Who Will They Draft?
Despite only having a three percent chance to land the number one overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, the Atlanta Hawks defied the odds and won the NBA draft lottery and in turn won the first overall pick.
There has been wide-speculation for the last couple seasons that the Hawks would possibly trade star guard Trae Young. However, those NBA rumors may come to an end if the Hawks can draft Young a new partner to co-lead the franchise with. The question then is, who will the Hawks draft with the coveted number one overall pick?
C Alex Sarr - Alex Sarr is a 7’1 center from France. He currently plays center for the Australian National Basketball League’s (NBL) Perth Wildcats.
SF Zaccharie Risacher - Zaccharie Risacher is also from France. He currently plays small forward for the French-based basketball club called Jeunesse Laïque de Bourg-en-Bresse that is located in Bourg-en-Bresse, France.
G Nikola Topic - Nikola Topic is a Serbian professional basketball player. He has previously played for Crvena Zvezda Belgrade in the Adriatic League.
This past season, Young led the Hawks with 25.7 points and 10.8 assists per game. Young’s leading 25.7 PPG was followed up by shooting guard Dejounte Murray’s 22.5 PPG and shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic’s 16.9 PPG. Whereas, center Clint Capela led the team with 10.6 rebounds per game. Coupling Capela with Sarr’s athleticism and size could prove to be a potent front court duo that could transform the Hawks’ core for years to come.
