According to Seth Emerson and Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Netflix and the SEC are close to closing a deal to make a new TV series that will follow SEC football teams throughout their seasons. Netflix executives told The Athletic that the potential new series would be similar to Netflix’s existing Formula 1 “Drive to Survive” and the PGA Tour’s “Full Swing” TV series.

According to The Athletic report, SEC teams will have the option to opt-in or opt-out. This season, the SEC will be adding the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas. Many college football fans regard the SEC as the best conference in all of college football.

If the NFL’s “Hard Knocks” series is any indication of how popular this SEC TV series can be, then buckle up folks as “Hard Knocks” is a uniformly respected sports documentary TV series. Given the SEC’s dedicated fanbases, expect the same level of popularity as “Hard Knocks” or even more considering the excitement surrounding this new 2024 version of the SEC.
