Dallas Cowboys Trade for Defensive Tackle Johnathan Hankins

As per NFL.com, the Las Vegas Raiders have traded defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins and a 2024 seventh-round draft pick to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2023 sixth-round pick.

This is a no risk move for the Dallas Cowboys who have been seeking additional run defense help to bolster their interior defensive line as they prepare to make a Super Bowl run with Dak Prescott returning to lead this hot team.

On the flip side, the Las Vegas Raiders, clear a little bit of cap space that they can carry over to the 2023 season. Johnathan Hankins has never lived up to the initial hype about him, but has shown flashes of impact throughout his time in the NFL. As we have seen time and time again, some players just need a new destination to reach their true potential.

Last year, the Green Bay Packers picked up Rasul Douglas from the Arizona Cardinal’s practice squad. Douglas made an immediate impact for the Green Bay Packers and was able to lockdown a three-year contract extension following his breakout season.

Hopefully, Hankins can capitalize on his new destination in the same way Douglas did.
