The Chicago Bulls traded guard Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard Josh Giddey per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Caruso was entering the final year of his contract with the Bulls and reports have emerged saying that Giddey did not want to have a bench role with the Thunder. This trade was truly a win-win for both teams. As the Thunder enter win-now mode, having a strong defender like Caruso will certainly bolster their roster. Whereas the Bulls are likely entering a rebuild and could benefit from getting younger.

The Bulls have still not re-signed forward DeMar DeRozan as NBA free agency quickly approaches. This move by the Bulls may signal whether they intend to begin a rebuild in Chicago. NBA free agency begins on June 30th.
