Edmonton Oilers Fire Head Coach Jay Woodcroft

The Edmonton Oilers have fired head coach Jay Woodcroft after a disappointing 3-9-1 start to the 2023-2024 NHL season. The Edmonton Oilers announced that Kris Knoblauch will take over as head coach.

Hartford Wolf Pack head coach Kris Knoblauch will assume head coaching duties with the Oilers & will be joined by assistant coach Paul Coffey.

Woodcroft originally took over as the Edmonton Oilers’ interim head coach on February 10, 2022. Woodcroft was eventually signed as the Edmonton Oilers’ permanent head coach.
