New York Jets Sign Veteran Running Back Tarik Cohen to a 1-Year Deal
According to Adam Schefter, the New York Jets signed veteran running back Tarik Cohen to a one-year contract. Before playing for the Jets, Cohen primarily spent his time playing for the Chicago Bears, but he has since had a brief stint with the Carolina Panthers who recently released him on May 10, 2024.
Jets are signing free-agent RB Tarik Cohen to a one-year deal, per source. Cohen was one of the NFL’s top return specialists and a receiving threat before injuries derailed his career. Cohen last played in the NFL in 2020, but now will attempt his comeback with the Jets. pic.twitter.com/7lBjqEt1Sc

Back during the 2020 season, Cohen tore both his ACL and MCL. He sat out the following 2021 season while still being a member of the Bears. The Bears eventually released him during the 2022 offseason.
Cohen now joins the Jets as a depth piece for their Aaron-Rodgers' led offense. Running back Breece Hall is currently the starting running back for the Jets, and no signs point to him losing his starting position. Maybe Cohen can also play a gadget-type of role for the Jets as well. Time will only tell what the Jets have planned for Cohen in their unique offense.
